Bharatpur State, Kishan Singh (AD 1900-1929), Gold, 34.43 g, Distinguished Service Medal, bust of the King in full dress military uniform wearing two medals, facing half right. Around the edge the inscription reads in English, COLONEL . HIS . HIGHNESS . SHRI . BRIJENDRA . SAWAI KISHEN . SINGH . MAHARAJA . OF . BHARATPUR . 1925 . on obverse. The reverse has an outer band containing a leaf design, in the centre, on three lines, the English inscription reads, FOR / DISTINGUISHED / SERVICE. Below the legend is a banner and in between the legend and the banner are five Hallmarks. The top of the medal has a foliative suspension (similar to MacClean# 70 but in gold). The Unique Medal was awarded to Special Officer (Khawas) Mohan Lall Bharatpur, and is engraved on the edge of the Medal. This Medal type was reported from a unique Copper Proof only (MacClean# 70) and no physical medals of this type were ever recorded either in gold or in silver. The only reference available to issue of such a Unique Gold Medal is reported in a letter from the President of the Council of State, Bharatpur to the Political Agent referring to a Gold Medal with 3 stringed Chain with an effigy of Kishen Singh, and awarded to another British subject, Major Abdul Samad, along with the title of Faujdar. The First-ever Known and Unique Medal of the erstwhile Bharatpur State, and a Unique Piece of the Heritage of Rajasthan.
