Autograph of The Mother (La Mère) on a First Day Cover of the 15 Paise Postage Stamp of issue with the Stamp and official Cancellation dated 15 August 1954, the birth anniversary of Sri Aurobindo (1872-1950). Autographed in purple across the lower-right of the FDC. Intact, Very Rare. Mirra Alfassa (21 February 1878 – 17 November 1973), known to her followers as The Mother or La Mère, was a French-Indian spiritual guru, occultistand yoga teacher, and a collaborator of Sri Aurobindo, who considered her to be of equal yogic stature to him and called her by the name "The Mother". She founded the Sri Aurobindo Ashram and established the town of Auroville at Pondicherry. She was influential on the subject of Integral Yoga.
