During his later years Shah Alam Bahadur issued an edict to increase the weight standard of the rupees in certain Subbas of the Mughal empire, Bengal was one of them. However, these heavy weight Rupee coins did not survive for long and he had to revert to normal weight standard of 11.66 grams.
